Except the ring die, roller shell is another factor that affect pellet production greatly. Here we will introduce the main tooth profiles which are used on the roller shell, together with the the application of them. Below are three types of tooth profiles applied widely.
Riffled type & Open-ended
This is one tooth profile which is used widely in pellet production. It is mainly applied in production of big size pellet, such as livestock feed, wood pellet, etc. Usually the raw material used to produce the big size pellet is rough, and needs more pressure to pass the hole channel. Open end can let the redundant material squeeze out of the gap between the ring die and roller shell, which can help decrease the abrasion of the ring die and roller shell, increase the production and lifespan of these two parts.
Riffled type & Closed-ended
This is another tooth profile which is used widely in pellet production. It is mainly applied in production of small size pellet, such as aquatic feed, etc. Usually the raw material used to produce the small size pellet is fine. We need more material to enter the hole channel. Closed end can avoid the escape of raw material, and guarantee the material enter the hole channel as much as possible. It can help increase the production.
Dimpled Type
This is also one tooth profile which is widely used in pellet production. Comparing with the two riffled type design, it owns longer lifespan, but it slips more easily than riffled type. It can be used to produce all types of pellet.
Based on the characters we mentioned above, hope this article can help our clients find the suitable tooth profile they want for the roller shell.
